Be Still My Soul

Be still my soul
The Lord is on your side
Bear patiently
The cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy God
To order and provide
In every change
He faithful will remain.

Be still my soul
Thy best, thy heavenly friend
Through stormy ways
Leads to a joyful end.

Be still my soul
The waves and winds still know
Still know
His voice who ruled them
While he dwelt below.

Oh what peace we often forfeit
Oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.

I've never heard the words but know the chorus. Makes me think of Jonah 2:8 crying out in the whale that he hoped he wouldn't forfeit the grace of God. Your post just hushed me making me go straight to my God! Sure do love you Miss Abby.

p.s. After the holidays I will talk with Fran and get her to visit us and we can plan to meet up for dinner if you want. I was so sad I had to cancel last weekend.

Hey AbbyLane
I'm new on Blogger and found your great blog yesterday.
These words are from a beautiful hymn I first heard sung by Amy Grant, love the version on her Hymns and Inspirational songs album.
Thanks for sharing,
